4-Linked Robot
In a group of four, we were given two weeks to design and construct a robot made entirely of acrylic. We were instructed to design a four-bar linkage structure that was capable of completing three different obstacle courses:
-
A box filled with rocks.
-
6 hurdles that were 1” high and 3” away from one another.
-
8 staircases, each of 1” height
We were given a base frame to use, however we had to design a four bar linkage for the legs.
I calculated the minimum coefficient of friction our robot needed so that we’d be able to determine the material we needed to add at the end of the robot’s legs.
I also investigated different four-bar linkages designs using Solidworks’ motion gen add-on and assisted in assembling the robot.
Ultimately we placed second on the rocks obstacle course out of a total of 40 teams.
